Join the Global Day of Action – GivingTuesday with a Donation to Friends of Clark County!
At Friends of Clark County, we envision a flourishing Clark County thriving with local farms, healthy forests, clean water, protected wildlife habitats, and neighborhoods that are vibrant with natural areas accessible to all.
This giving season, we are reminded that our work to achieve this vision relies on community support and acts of generosity. We’re reaching out to you to help us create transformational change in county land use policy that will have lasting impacts on all aspects of our lives and participating in GivingTuesday – the Global Day of Giving on Dec 3, 2024 by donating to our organization and helping to spread the word!

As this Council finishes the year out, we are working hard to halt irresponsible land use decisions, including those that would result in the loss of up to 8,600 acres of agricultural land to urban sprawl and over 2,500 acres of forestland sacrificed for needless surface mining.
On the same token, we are feeling inspired and hopeful as we look back at all we’ve accomplished, including:
- Helped establish an Agricultural Advisory Commission for Clark County (passed this November!), finally giving farmers and local food advocates a seat at the table in county government;
- Working with community-based organizations representing underserved communities in Clark County to boost participation in the Comprehensive Plan Update;
- Pushing for bold climate action in the Comprehensive Plan Update, including the expansion of local food production and protection of legacy forests;
- Continuing our legal appeal to stop Chelatchie Prairie from becoming a gravel wasteland and protecting our climate, water, fish and wildlife, and resident health and well-being;
- Continuing to serve as a local news and information hub for land use issues and comprehensive planning in Clark County. We publish newsletters, hold forums, and have active social media accounts that keep residents informed and help them understand how and when to engage in local government.
Furthermore, we are excited to see what opportunities 2025 will bring for policy change that departs from business-as-usual and centers the collective well-being of Clark County residents now and into the future.
We hope you’ll support our efforts by making a donation for Giving Tuesday. Your contribution will allow us to continue this labor of love through organizing, including research, community outreach, drafting Council communications, and taking legal action, when necessary, to protect and enhance Clark County for all of us.
From there, please make sure to share our Facebook and Instagram posts with your friends and family telling them why you donated and asking them to join you!
Your generosity will make a significant difference in our community and inspire others to give.
