What’s on our Radar – Week of July 7th, 2025
We recommend you get caught up on FOCC’s recent Comp Plan forum if you haven’t already:
- Last week:
- There were no Clark County Council meetings last week, so there was no FOCC Radar.
- There were no Clark County Council meetings last week, so there was no FOCC Radar.
-
- There was a Regional Transportation Council (RTC) meeting, which you can watch on CVTV here: https://www.cvtv.org/
- This week:
-
- Wednesday, July 9th at 9am is a work session for a Pacificorp Presentation on a proposed transmission line over many parts of the county. We understand there is much concern over this proposal, and the local group, Move the Line East, is asking folks to attend the work session. Remember, no public comment is allowed at work sessions. Check out the map here: https://clark.wa.gov/sites/default/files/media/document/2025-07/070925-work-session_transmission-line_q2599_newsub_sites-reduced.pdf
Visit Move the Line East’s website here: https://movethelineeast.com/ - Wednesday, July 9th at about 10am is a presentation on the Fairgrounds Master Plan.
- Wednesday, July 9th at 1pm is Council Time. Items of note:
- “Trust Lands Visit” is on the agenda regarding tours being planned for councilors with the Department of Natural Resources of our state public trust lands in Clark County. As a reminder, FOCC recently got on the record regarding another DNR timber sale of legacy forest, Turnover, that is moving through the process despite the county’s request to conserve what is left of our older growth forests. In addition, we urged that local advocates and press be included in this trust lands visit and other meetings with the DNR on this subject going forward, given the DNR’s behavior with the Dabbler timber sale and so many other legacy forests across the state. See FOCC’s new letter to the Clark County Council regarding this issue here: https://friendsofclarkcounty.org/read-foccs-letter-to-the-clark-county-council-re-turnover-timber-sale-and-dnr-managed-clark-county-trust-lands/
There is a public comment opportunity at this meeting to speak in support of FOCC’s position and remaining asks:- Get on the record with the proposed Turnover sale NOW and be proactive in watching the status of Dendrophobia and others;
- Invite community advocates and local press to the planned DNR site tours of Clark County trust land; and
- Invite at least one community representative to the planned closed-door meeting with the DNR, timber industry, Cascade Forest Conservancy, and others.
