- SAVE THE DATE for the Chelatchie Bluff SMO hearing: The Clark County Council recently gave unanimous direction to move forward with repealing the Chelatchie Bluff surface mining overlay (SMO) over environmentally sensitive forest land in response to FOCC’s win at the Washington Court of Appeals, which would bring the County back into compliance with state law. The hearing date was sent out last week and is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, at 1:00 pm. https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/78v4ChTd2xJIPmddrmliTw - This week, there are 3 work sessions at the Clark County Council starting at 9am on Wednesday (4/30), with one being a presentation on the Climate Element of the Comprehensive Plan Update. Work sessions are a great way to learn about a topic and get a sense of how the Council is thinking about an issue, so we encourage you to tune in! Check out the presentation ahead of time here: https://clark.wa.gov/sites/default/files/media/document/2025-04/043025-work-session-comp-plan-climate-element.pdf
The other work sessions include the Amendment of 2024 Annual Construction Program (ACP) and Bridge Preservation Program & Load Restrictions. - At 1pm, Wednesday, 4/30 is Council Time. While there is nothing huge on the agenda, this is where we’ll hear councilor reports and policy updates so we’ll be looking out for anything important.
