Do you care about local farms, healthy forests, clean water, clean air, the climate crisis, parks, walkability, housing and transportation, fish, wildlife, and creating vibrant and equitable communities? So does Friends of Clark County! That’s why advocacy around the Clark County Comprehensive Plan update process in accordance with the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA) is core to FOCC’s work. Join us for a panel discussion on Planning for our Collective Future: the Final Stretch of the Comprehensive Plan Update, which will take place on Wednesday, June 18th from 5 – 6:30 pm Pacific Time, Remote via Zoom. With mere months until the due date for submission of the 2025 Comprehensive Plan update in Clark County and its cities, as well as the public comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Comp Plan underway, we’ll break down how this process will impact our lives and future generations, what options are on the table, and how we can influence the outcome to best address the unprecedented environmental and quality of life challenges we collectively face.
During this 90-minute remote session, we will hear from a group of esteemed panelists (to be determined) to provide an overview of the GMA goals and why they matter, the City of Vancouver’s Comp Plan and how it interacts with Clark County, followed by a breakdown on the countywide Comp Plan update. Panelists will have an opportunity to discuss together prompted by questions from the community, and we’ll finish up with a call-to-action from FOCC to help us push for the best plan in this final stretch of the process.
We’ll send out an invite once guests are secured, but until then, save the date!
